Case of Smt.Rupi Soren
On behalf of the Adivasi Mahasabha, I would like to express my deep sense of shock,pain,despair,condemnation and anguish on the matter,of unjust and in-dignified conduct of the Vigilance department of the railways in the case of humiliation of Smt.Rupi Soren, the wife Shri Shibu Soren a cabinet minister in the Union cabinet.It is a matter of shame that the vigilance officers forcefully entered her Ist Class A/C Compartment at around midnight while she was sleeping on board the Howrah bound Rajdhani Express.This is certainly a most horrifying and uncivilized manner to check the ticket or reservation slip of an Honorable passenger of the most renowned passenger train of the country.
And kindly note the questions put to Smt.Soren,after waking her up from sleep.The Vigilance people demanded a verification if she is really the wife of Shri Shibu Soren or not.They also tried to find out her age,number of children ,their names and age etc.
At least the Vigilance executives should have kept minimum courtesy as they were dealing with a dignified women and not to any hardcore criminal.An ordinary women is also not supposed to be questioned by the investigating officers during the night hours.They could have questioned her early in the morning at 7.30 AM when the train reaches Dhanbad, her destination.
It is shameful for the railways , as till now we heard about the humiliation of Indian ministers during their foreign tour as Mr George Fernandes was humiliated during his trip to USA, but the TV and media showed us how wife of a Cabinet Minister is humiliated in her own country.
We understand that as a matter of the protocol, the Indian Railways should have accorded a VIP treatment VIP treatment to the wife of a Cabinet Minister by offering her a Protocol of Honour during her journey in the renowned RAJDHANI EXPRESS. It is very painful that instead of welcoming her with garland of roses the railways chose the occasion to humiliate her publicly in front of the tv camera.and the media, by detaining the prestigious Rajdhani Express for more than an hour at Kanpur Station.The general public in India and abroad have witnessed the whole episode and the public may draw its conclusion regarding rude and ruthless publc dealing of the railway officials.
